The February 22nd Blog Entry Will Be Your Key To Next Week!
Please refer to this entry for information regarding Reading and Spelling.  McDonald's Superstars will remain the same, and Book Nook will continue to be about Dr. Seuss.  Memory Work will be different, as listed below.

Book It! Form for March
Please check your child's Friday Communication Folder for a Pizza Hut Book It! form for the month of March.  This is the last month for the Book It! program, and several first and second graders have enjoyed free personal pan pizzas this year!  If you would like to participate, please complete and return the form to school before we leave for Spring Break in March.  (The date on this may change due to snow days, so check the Eagle Chirps and/or look for an email from Mr. Koenig regarding these date changes.)

Snow Day - February 27th

Now that we only have potentially two days left in our school week, I have decided to alter our schedule quite a bit.  Since we spent Monday catching up from Friday, that would leave us with only two days to cram in Unit Tests and a Writing Project and I don't feel like these things should be "crammed in". So, please follow the "new, revised schedule" as follows:

Thursday, February 28th:
1.  Memory Work to have prepared:    God, have mercy on me, a sinner.  Luke 18:13
2.  Don't forget to bring in your library books for library time!

Friday, March 1st
1.  Memory Work to have prepared:    Lord, teach us to pray.  Luke 11:1

On both of these days, we will focus on Jesus Time, Science, and Math activities and move Unit Tests, Writing Project,  and Spelling Review Tests to the week of March 4th.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at kbradshaw@stjohnshannibal.org

Be careful out there and see you as soon as possible!
Love and Blessings,

Mrs. Bradshaw

Snow Day - February 26th

Here we are again!  I hope you are having a safe day today as we get round two of winter weather!

On Monday, we were able to complete the tasks we would have completed on Friday.  For Wednesday February 27th, please have Luke 18:13 ready to say for Memory.  Also, if your child would like to send a Chapel offering for Wednesday, you can just send it in a regular envelope marked "Chapel":

God, have mercy on me, a sinner.  Luke 18:13

We will see what the rest of the week brings.  As of now, we will still have  Spelling Tests on Friday and will begin Unit Tests on Wednesday.  Check back to the blog for a new entry and further information if we cannot get back to school tomorrow.

Thanks!

Snow Day Update

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all staying warm and safe as we get through this winter storm!

Since we will not be having school on Friday, then Monday, February 25th will be "Friday on Monday"!  Please have kids prepare Psalm 136:1 for Memory on Monday, and we will also take our Spelling tests over "Animal Teams" and "Mice and Beans" on Monday.  We will begin Unit tests and Memory as stated in the February 22nd blog entry on Tuesday.

Also, if your child plans on participating in Book It! this month, please have the completed form back to school by Thursday of next week.  Hey, something to do over this surprise "long weekend"!

Thanks for all that you do!  Be careful out there!

Love and blessings,

Mrs. Bradshaw

First and Second Grade Field Trip - Tuesday, May 7th

February 15th News and Notes

President's Day is Monday!
There will be NO SCHOOL MONDAY in honor of President's Day.  Please note that Memory Work will be on Wednesday and Friday this week and Second Grade will only have those two.  Everything else will remain on schedule.

First and Second Grade Field Trip - Tuesday, May 7th
On Tuesday, May 7th, we will be travelling to St. Louis for our Field Trip.  We will start with a tour of The Fabulous Fox Theatre, followed by a picnic lunch at Faust Park, then a self-guided tour of The Butterfly House.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to join us on this trip.  I will need to know to confirm our reservation numbers.  Thanks!

Mechanical or Push Point Pencils
It is a good idea to ask your child from time to time if they are in need of pencils.  If so, please send the old fashioned pencils used in a regular pencil sharpener rather than mechanical or push point pencils.  Those types of pencils cause much more "drama" during the school day than necessary when the lead runs out or gets lost.  Also, please emphasize with your child that we DO NOT give away our school supplies to friends.  Allowing to borrow is one thing - giving away is another.  Thanks!
