January 31st News and Notes

Lutheran Schools' Week
Thank you for all of your help in making this past week special in many ways!  I think everybody had a great time and celebrated our opportunity to belong to a Lutheran School family!

Book It! For February
Please look in the Friday folder for a new Book It! form for February.  If you choose to participate, please complete and return to school by Thursday, February 28th.

First Grade Sight Word Review Forms
First grade parents - please look in the Friday folder for the latest sight word check that I did with the students following Unit 3.  This was a review of all sight words for the year so far.  If the word is circled, that means that your child was unable to identify it.   Please continue to work on these words at home.  We will check again after Unit 4.

Valentines Day
This will be here before we know it!  Below is a list of children in our classroom.  We welcomed a new student just this week in the first grade!  This list will be helpful as children are working on their valentine cards.  Please make sure that each child brings a card for every member of the class.  Also keep in mind that we have a severe peanut allergy in the classroom if you wish to send a treat as well.  Please let the kids fill out their own valentines, as this provides a good chance for handwriting and spelling practice!  Thanks!

January 4th News and Notes

Book It! for January
If your child wants to participate in Pizza Hut Book It! this month, please have completed forms back to school by Thursday, January 31st.  These can be found in the Friday Communication Folder.  These books can also be used for the Six Flags program, which will be due in February!

Second Quarter Report Cards
Report cards for Second Quarter will be coming home in Monday's Communication Folder.  Please review, sign the back, and return by Friday, January 11th.

Thank You Very Much!
I really appreciate and will totally enjoy spending the Kohl's Gift Card that the class presented me for Christmas!  Thank you so much for thinking of me!

Extra Pants
Next week it will likely be getting warm enough for us to play on the blacktop/parking lot.  However, melting snow may cause it to be a little wet and slippery.  Please send along an extra pair of pants for your child to keep in a sack on their hook in case we have a fall that results in wet bottoms!  Also, please be mindful of the shoes that they wear in case the surface is a bit wet.   Fresh air = good!
Wet pants and slick shoes = bad!  Thanks!
